About Us
We are committed to improving communication and understanding in an increasingly globalized, multicultural world, by:

  • Promoting respect among people of different cultures
  • Facilitating exchange of information, knowledge, and expertise
  • Enhancing awareness of domestic and global cultural issues
  • Providing a forum for intercultural specialists to network
  • Enabling effective communication across cultures

History
SIETAR Metro New York was established in 1997. We serve Intercultural practitioners from the New York Metro area offer intercultural education, training, and research resources. SIETAR Metro New York is a part of a global network of over 3,000 members in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia. Members connect by attending conferences at home and abroad, by networking, and by sharing information and resources.  SIETAR holds Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status with the United Nations and the Council of Europe.

Our Membership
We have members from all over the globe. We come from different professional backgrounds - corporate, consulting, coaching, academic - and much of our work is involved with the challenges of overcoming communication and cultural barriers that are both face to face, as well as, increasingly, virtual
